Many Olympic hopefuls dream of entering the beginning of the snowy slopes in Lake Tahoe. The area where dreams were made for several others many years ago when the Olympics were held on the mountains of Lake Tahoe. California and Nevada both welcome the hopefuls with open arms. The Tahoe area straddles both states with comradery and compassion for the hopefuls. The town is full of buzz and excitement when a new Olympic hopeful dreamer skis into town. They roll out the red carpet for these individuals. No one understands this any better than Andy Wirth and the Squaw Valley Ski resorts in the area.

Andy Wirth has been involved with the resorts and the area for over 25 years. Andy and his wife both live in the Truckee area of California. She is a real estate lawyer and adventurer like Andy. They both enjoy the ski slopes as well as other dangerous activities like ski diving. They both take the adventures to new heights when they soar above the mountains of Nevada. Recently, Andy almost lost his arm when he was skydiving. He accidentally landed on a post supporting vines in a vineyard. Luck was on his side because the surgeons were able to patch his arm back where he did not lose all of his use of his arm. Now Andy is using his recent accident as an encourage for helping others. Andy is raising funds for the Wounded Warrior and Navy Seal Foundations. He is also using his good luck to help him help others succeed. Andy is a good hearted individual that is soaring high in his career and dreams for his state of California.

Andy has an extensive history of helping his home town. He was instrumental in helping the merger of Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley. One ticket for both resort areas is the positive outcome. Andy now is Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport. He is helping Olympic hopefuls to secure their dream of riding the powder that Olympians rode many years ago. He is also helping bring tourist the the Casinos in Nevada and the rivers in the surrounding areas. Andy is doing a lot for the state of Nevada and California. He hopes to increase the tourist to the areas.

According to the Jerusalem post, Adam Milstein makes the cut in the world’s top 50 most influential Jews. Adam Milstein is the co-founder of the California-based Israeli-American Council (IAC), an organization that serves to reinforce the ties between the State of Israel and its Jewish nationals living in America, as well as the relationship between the two states of Israel and the US. Under the leadership of Adam Milstein, IAC has been recognized as the fastest growing Jewish group in the US.

Since its launch, Israeli-American Council has spread out to 10 regional councils, with reliable volunteers in over 25 US states and a variety of creative programs to connect Israeli-Americans countrywide of all ages. IAC Eitanim is a good example of such programs, given that it imparts practical leadership skills to Jewish American groups and Israeli-American students.

Adam Milstein was born in the town of Haifa in 1952. In 1981, he and his wife, Gila, migrated to California where he created a real estate business empire. Milstein and his wife are blessed with three daughters.

Currently, he works at Hager Pacific Properties as the managing partner. Basically, the company focuses on retail, industrial, residential and office properties. In 2000, Mr. and Mrs. Milstein launched the Adam and Gila Milstein Family Foundation, an organization that inspires young Jews to connect to their Jewish origins and support the state of Israel.

In June 2015, Milstein and co-organizers Adelson and Haim Saban brought over fifty pro-Israel organizations and groups in a summit held in Las Vegas to discuss strategies on how to defeat the activities propagated by anti-Israel campus organizations. The conference gave itself the nickname, the Campus Maccabees Summit.

Mr. Adam Milstein engages in several philanthropic activities. He is a board member of several important organizations such as Israel on Campus Coalition, StandWithUs and Hasbara Fellowships, in addition to Birthright Israel, Jewish Funders Network, AIPAC National Council and Stand By Me. According to Milstein, he feels privileged to be a humanitarian and the have the golden chance to make a positive impact on the Jewish people and the State of Israel.

Thanks to the launch of the IAC, the Jewish people born in America have proudly embraced their Israeli-American identity while at the same time maintaining connections with their Jewish birthplace, Israel.

James Dondero is helping save lives

The co-founder and president of Highland Capital Management, L.P., James Dondero, announced that the firm had given a $1 million challenge grant to The Family Place to help them reach their $2.8 million goal for its Legacy Campaign over the next six months. The Family Place is a leading organization in Dallas that supports family violence victims.

The Highland Dallas Foundation, Inc., is going to match fifty percent of any funds raised up to $1 million from now until April 4, 2017. The Family Place has raised an additional $200,000 towards the Legacy Campaign, which was matched with $100,000 because of Highland’s grant. According to Dondero, it’s a call to action by Mike Rawlings, the Dallas Mayor, and Dallas Police Chief, David Brown, to help ease this issue in Dallas.

The Family Place Legacy Campaign is a big supporter of the newly constructed Central Dallas Counseling Center for victims of family violence and has been named after Ann Moody. Designed by Corgan, a leading architecture firm, it has thirteen emergency shelter bedrooms, a dental and medical clinic, a hotline/call center, areas for job training, and private and group counseling rooms. It will serve more than 2,000 victims every year and will provide the critical emergency shelter needed since the Highland Dallas Foundation is already operating at capacity. Ann Moody Place will also house their Be Project.

James Dondero is the Co-Founder and President of Highland Capital Management and currently lives in Dallas, Texas. He has over thirty years of experience in equity and credit markets and is Chairman of Cornerstone Healthcare, CCS Medical, and Nexbank. He is also a board member of American Banknote and MGM Studios.

Dondero is a philanthropist and is a strong supporter of initiatives in healthcare, veteran’s affairs, and public policy. He served as Chief Investment Officer prior to HCM and helped the GIC subsidiary of Protective Life to expand.
